Statement of Purpose
This committee plans, coordinates and provides opportunities for members to extend Christ's love and compassion to those in need, whether they are in this congregation, this community, the nation or the world. They seek to help the congregation learn about human needs that should be addressed.
The committee has goals of awareness, interest, involvement and concern-- it thoroughly searches for programs and activities that the congregation can support and promotes different organizations in our Messenger and church bulletin. Its concern is outreach, seeking to help love one another as Christ loves us.
Activities
In addition to the community service opportunities explained previously, this committee also works with the Grassroots Agency of Howard County, the ELCA World Hunger Appeal, Tressler Lutheran Services, the Howard County Thrift Shop, and Christmas in April in Howard County.
Nature of Group Membership
All First Lutheran members and friends are welcome to join. Most members have special involvement with one or more of the projects with which the committee works.
