Statement of Purpose
The chief purpose of the Congregation Council is to oversee the way in which the church fulfills its mission statement and to serve as the governing board for the church.
Activities
At its regular monthly meetings, the council reviews motions from the operating committees of the church and appoints special committees. It also reviews a yearly budget geared to the plans of each committee. The council conducts two regularly scheduled congregational meetings each year. The council's Executive Committee, comprised of the four officers and two pastors, meets prior to the council meeting to address committee issues and to review the council meeting agenda.
Nature of Group Membership
The council has up to 15 members who are elected annually by the congregation. Potential candidates are chosen, usually from members of church committees, by a Nominating Committee. The council represents a variety of interest and age groups within the congregation.
