First Evangelical Lutheran Church (First) is a congregation of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. We are in the Baltimore-West Conference of the Delaware-Maryland Synod.

We are a vital congregation that spans generations, cultures, and languages.

Our Congregation

Founded in 1875, First moved to its present site in 1956, and has undergone several building additions, culminating in the present eight-sided sanctuary dedicated in 1996. In 2008 the First Lutheran Pre-school was begun. Our staff includes a senior and associate pastor: directors of music, education, youth,
and preschool; administrator, secretary,
two custodial/maintenance; and a pre-school staff of 9.

Our members include 3rd generation families, but also many from across the country and around the world! When we pray in our native languages more than 7 languages are heard. We have a growing ministry with children and their families as well as youth. Our Pre-school, part of our Outreach Ministry, welcomes families from our diverse surrounding community. At First we believe that diversity is a gift to be celebrated – we are all children of God.
